Harry Hewetson, dipION, mBANT, CNHC.

Nutritional Therapist and Health Coach.

Weighing in at 17 stone (which is 238 pounds or 108 kilos, depending on where you’re from), a heavy drinker, committed 20 a day smoker and virulent avoider of exercise, even those nearest to me didn’t see this coming!

There was no epiphany; no line in the sand moment when I switched from one lifestyle to another, but I can trace the beginnings of my gradual transformation back to feeling genuinely high about 30 minutes after my first hot yoga class in 2009. The innate hedonist in me liked this and wanted more; it was also physically very therapeutic due the demanding nature of my job, restoring bathtubs.

It was around this time that I was also undergoing detox therapy for chronic lead poisoning from inhaling enamel dust over the years; the combination of this and the hot yoga created a gradual shift in lifestyle which brought about some weight loss and gave me the confidence and motivation to continue a gentle upward trajectory of health improvement.

By 2013 I had quit the bath business and attended an immersive 9 week hot-yoga teacher training course in Los Angeles! I still teach and practice this style of yoga to this day.

In 2015 I enrolled at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) to study Nutritional Therapy and upon graduating I became member a member of the two main professional bodies for the industry: The British Association for Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and The Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

I have done further training in nutrition for mental health, the psychology of weight loss, gut health, brain health, sports nutrition, writing & running group programs and health & lifestyle coaching.

MY ‘WHY’

A very common but misguided belief about health and wellbeing is that it is a binary choice: you either ‘do it’ or you ‘don’t do it’ and if you decide to move from the ‘don’t do it’ camp to the ‘do it’ camp then it must all be done at once, forsaking all the joys of life!

This approach is unrealistic, overwhelming (not to mention completely unnecessary!) and almost invariably results in failure.

To effect change of any kind can be daunting and requires some degree of effort but not so much one might think and in fact, less is more when it comes to making changes that will last.

I have a deep-rooted drive to help people raise their baseline of health and wellbeing, whether it is through working together in a one-to-one setting or on one of my programs. I specialise in guiding and coaching my clients to make small, achievable and sustainable changes and fervently believe that with my guidance, I can empower you to take control of and have pride in your own upward trajectory of feeling healthier and happier. It can be a lot easier than you might believe.
